Tips on a Tuesday

Hello Friends,

I saw an article in People magazine, of all places, that I just can't get out of my mind.  This family throws out ONLY a liter of trash a year.  They don't live on a farm, they are omnivores and they still use toilet paper.  Known as the jar lady, the mom uses jars at the store to fill up on bulk items or items from the deli counter or to load up on veggies at the farmers market.  Cloth bags are used at the bakery or to transport lunches.  The kids even refuse eating single servings of chips in bags because they know aren't the healthiest food option, you only get a few chips and then you have a load of trash left.  I was amazed that this seems like a 'normal' and 'regular' family and she made you feel as if you could do this project too.  There are loads of tips on their site and it's certainly worth checking out.  I for one would like to figure out how to live with less of an impact even in such an urban environment.  Two topics of interest are how to build a window garden and how to compost without inviting cockroaches for supper.  Any tips??

Wishing you a buon and green day darlings.

Bussi Bussi!
