Just Another Manic Monday.....

Good Morning Friends and Happy 2012 and Happy New Year!

It's great to have holidays on weekends but it sure makes the Monday after feel rushed.  NYC is still a little sleepy today-Financial markets are closed, government offices are closed, schools are closed and mass transit is running on weekend schedules but I know of a lot of folks who have to get back to the office today.  To top it off the news headlines are still horrible and there is the Iowa caucus coming up tomorrow.  The next few days are going to feel bumpy.  Are you feeling a little manic today too darlings?   Feeling the rush of getting back to "The Routine Regular" while also trying to take on a slew of 2012 resolutions?

Here's a thought.  Why not carry the idea of guten rutsch or good slide throughout the whole year?

On a side but related note, two of my nearest and dearest had so-so New Years Eve and worry if this is an omen of the things to come.  (Rest assured dearies-NO!).  Today good friends of our family will bury their Father/Husband who died unexpectedly and suddenly just at the end of 2011.  I'm not trying to start your year sounding morose but it is a reminder perhaps to not take ourselves so seriously and to really savor each and every moment.

From my running list of resolutions a few important changes for 2012 include snuggling with loved ones just a little more, letting things roll of my back more smoothly and to have a little more fun.  I discovered a fantastic new hymn yesterday titled "Cold December Flies Away" or "The Rose Carol".  I think it sums up the start to the near year perfectly.  Instead of approaching the year and resolutions with dread why not let the past go and savor the magic of the change and the joy that each new day can bring?   Remember it's Delve into Twelve.

 Cold December flies away
at the rose-red splendor.
April's crowning glory breaks
while the whole world wonders
at the holy unseen pow'r
of the tree which bears the flow'r.
On the blessed tree
blooms the reddest flow'r.
On the tree blooms the rose
here in love's own garden,
full and strong in glory.

In the hopeless time of sin
shadows deep had fallen.
All the world lay under death.
Eyes were closed in sleeping.
But, when all seemed lost in night,
came the sun whose golden light
brings unending joy,
brings the endless joy
of our hope, highest hope,
of our hope's bright dawning,
Son belov'd of heaven.

Now the bud has come to bloom,
and the world awakens.
In the lily's purest flow'r
dwells a wondrous fragrance.
And it spreads to all the earth
from the moment of its birth;
and its beauty lives.
In the flow'r it lives,
in the flow'r, and it spreads
in its heav'nly brightness
sweet perfume delightful.

Wishing you a wonderful day dearies.  Happy New Year!

PS-In the spirit of letting things roll you may be wondering about The Gray Beastie.  Sigh.  I had to rip out the sleeve 3 TIMES!  On a positive note I have increased confidence in my ability to improvise when a pattern is less than clear and I have increasing confidence in my skill level.  However, from my mouth to God's ears I will never knit another gray thing again in this lifetime.  Thankfully I still have until January 6th.......On the 12th day of Christmas my true love gave to me.......
